Anecdotal Comments & ReflectionsREEL SIX 1950-1951 Reel Six is all taken at Clovis Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Stevie is 7 ½ and I am 5 years old. The opening scene Daddy shot at the base air field after a destructive windstorm that destroyed the bombers and his plane as well. He shows us his damaged airplane; damaged beyond repair. Oakpark Military Quarters is the location of the children taken during the Easter holiday, followed by an Easter egg hunt. We, then, moved to Maxwell Air Force Base, Montgomery, Alabama. Daddy took us to the zoo to see peacocks, alligators, a carousel and kiddie rides; we always enjoyed these outings very much as they were very special. Daddy had a penchant for zoos, cathedrals, and museums and everywhere we traveled we visited such places and this love of culture and history has been passed down through the generations. Next, Stevie is seen at camp, his first time away from home. The camp is located near Maxwell Air Force Base, near Selma, Alabama. The name of the camp was Camp Grist. He is seen gathering his trophies and ribbons at the graduating award ceremony. He was always an achiever and was awarded honors and citations throughout his life. Horses and the rodeo were a part of Alabama life and Daddy and Mother made sure we were a part of it. We started riding horses at three years of age and never out grew our love for them or the thrills of the wild, wild, west. Playing cowboys and Indians was always part and parcel of our fantasy life.
