Peter Mehegan broadcasts live from the Esplanade as they prepare for the speech and concert. Discussion of Mandela’s tour of the US, life in South Africa, and apartheid. Includes clips of interviews with Hatch Shell Manager Angelo Tilas, MIT Professor Willard Johnson, Themba Vilakazi of the Fund for a Free South Africa, Labor Consultant Adam Klein, Koos Van Der Merwe of the South African Conservative Party, Prof. Aggrey Mbere of the African National Congress, Dr. Harry Webster, and Dr. Jane [Shayler?]. Mehegan also reports on the story of Nthabiseng Mabuza, a girl shot and paralyzed by South African police, being treated in Boston and re-learning to walk.
