Holmes talks to Northeastern University economics professor Neil Alper and police officer/attorney Donald E. Green about people who hold multiple jobs. Linda Marrella reports on a Las Vegas convention for mercenaries, hosted by ‘Soldier of Fortune’ magazine. Includes interview clips of Executive Editor of Soldier of Fortune Dale Dye, and conference attendees. Medical correspondent Dr. Marilyn Griffin reports on doctors who are dealing with addiction. She talks with Dr. Richard Curran, and an anonymous doctor, facing away from the camera, also answers questions about his own addiction recovery. They take calls from viewers. Byron Harris reports on US Air Force bases in Europe. Includes clips of interviews with Lieutenant Colonel Dave Smith and Lieutenant Colonel Don Peterson at Fort Worth, Texas. Jan Holmes talks with President of Tufts University Dr. Jean Mayer and Bob Snow, research and planning officer for Oxfam America, about the famine in Ethiopia, predicting and preventing future famines. Avruch talks with Senator Edward Kennedy about his trip to Ethiopia, Sudan and South Africa, his plans for aid to Ethiopia, and sanctions against the apartheid government of South Africa. Discussion of Regan’s State of the Union address, the Star War program, and social services.
