Program Title: The Promise
Maya Angelou hosts a discussion about the meaning of the church to the Black community. This begins with a history of religion in Africa before it was brought to America and then as it evolved in the new continent and new cultures. Includes interviews with academics and church leaders like John Cartwright, Charles Stith. and Wesley Roberts as well as still photos that are of hardship and painful experience.
