Can DescriptionsReel 9 had been divided into two sections, described by donor as 'Hatch Portion' and 'Pratt Portion'. Added to end of reel is section called 'Railroad clips'. Creator's notes: 'Misc.; Lois, Henry, Dick leaving for Mobile, 1939; Sailboat Races, Beverly, Mass.; building boat to sail around the world; captain of boat; Ed at home, 1937-'38; Lois, Henry, Dick at home, 1941. also contains Christmas scenes at West Hartford'. Donor's notes: '(Hatch portion) Contains the scenes marked on the index card as 'Jonny/Marie have this' and probably miscellaneous scenes of Ed Hatch form the lettered series of films. Marie Hatch recalls hearing that the boat in question was never heard from again. (Pratt portion) Film can is marked both 'E' and '9' (there is a separate can for the real Reel E), contains the rest of the scenes listed on the index card'. 'RR clips: Spliced on the end of Reel 9 (Pratt Portion): Pittsburgh (downtown, Pittsburgh Railways streetcars, Smithfield Br., sternwheelers on the Monongahela River) is from Reel 6, presumably where noted on index card. Strike pickets (and N.Y.P.D. and Third Avenue Railway streetcars on 42nd St., New York City) is from Reel 6, presumably where noted on index card. Scenes in the Concord, N.H. trainshed are from Reel C, taken from right after the first (?) father and son closeup at the station (which is still on Reel C). The original order may have been altered. Scenes of reconstructing a railroad overpass are from Reel C where marked 'Concord, November 1936, R.R. Bridge.' It is quite possible that the primary photographer of this was Henry B. Pratt (Jr.) who worked for the N.H. State Highway Department at the time, although he does not recall taking the pictures. Mt. Washington (cog railway) is from Reel 6, presumably where noted on index card (maybe from two places).'
