Incomplete print on tinted stock; some deterioration; scratches. // First reel Eastman Kodak, 1924 date code. Arrived tails out; deterioration. Pink tint, image loss in places. Could be water damage. Scratched. Blue tint. Splices at head of reel 1, perforation damage. The print starts with book opening, title page: 'Uncle Tom's Cabin.' Three other reels; rusty reels. Tails out also, one shows film sticking, advanced deterioration. Examined 25 March 1993, DSW. Summary from AFI Catalog: Based on novel by Harriet Beecher Stowe, and onplay of the same name. George Shelby is forced to sell his faithful slave Uncle Tom and the baby son of Eliza Harris to Haley, a slave trader. Uncle Tom saves a child, Little Eva, from drowning. Her father buys Tom. The child dies, and Tom and other slaves are sold to brutal Simon Legree, who beats Tom. Before he dies, Tom is found by George Shelby, Jr., who has been searching for Tom in fulfillment of a promise he made as a young man.
