ìStepping Outî is a program which focuses on the changing roles of women in society, and the problems facing women who work outside of the home in all spheres of society. The program includes recurring segments such as ìThe Trials and Tribulations of Ruby Slippersî and ìMechanical Minute with Lotta Knowhow.î This episode focuses on women who work at Bath Iron Works, the activities of the Maine State Apprenticeship Council, the bilingual gerontology program at the University of Maine, and girls' gymnastics.
