Title on box: "Flood 1936" Views of spring floods along rivers in Maine in March, 1936. Views of the Androscoggin River between Brunswick and Topsham. Pan along the riverbank to brick power plant with sign "Central Maine Power Co." on its roof. Pan the shoreline, with people standing along the edge in front of houses on a hill. The camera continues to pan around to the power substation on the river, which has flooded. More views of the rushing river, and high angle shot over the transformer area of the station, flooded and full of ice. Views of the water rushing under the railroad bridge in Brunswick, and a brief view of people walking across the Androscoggin Pedestrian (Swinging) Bridge between Brunswick and Topsham. The bridge had to be re-built after the flood. Views of rushing water in the channel around Head of Island, Skowhegan, including mill buildings, and dams in the Kennebec River. High angle views across a bridge in Skowhegan. Cut to shots of people walking amid large chunks of ice which have piled up at the edge of the river and pan to the power station area at the edge of the river, where wood plank supports have been added to a wall to prevent water from overflowing it. View of water rushing and flowing over a dam, the roiling on the other side, kicking up debris. More shots of the raging Kennebec river at Skowhegan, rushing past mill buildings, and the Weston Power Station of Central Maine Power, and rushing through the North Channel Dam or the South Channel Dam. Shots of automobiles traveling across a bridge over the dam with water very close to the bottom of the bridge. CUs of roiling water.
