Sign: ‘Bar Harbor, The first summer visitors who came to Mount Desert got “room and board” with farmers and fishermen. The board included lobsters and home-made doughnuts. No wonder they came back! Quickly the word spread that here was a haven of refuge from summer heat and a region of beauty and interests.
