Window on the World: Rose Kennedy Remembers The Best of Times, The Worst of Times; Burgess Meredith hosts a program that focuses on the life and times of Rose Kennedy as written about by Robert MacNeil; black screen breaks with a countdown; the story begins in Boston in the 1920s with vintage video; the lives at the time of Honey Fitz and Rose Fitzgerald are described; the courtship of Rose by Joe Kennedy is discussed; their early life as a family is recalled; means of discipline is noted; movies at home were a family perk; she says she would rather be the mother of a great man than to be a great person herself; fierce competition was taught; the time in London is described with much detail, obvious delight and vintage video; the losses of Joe Jr. and Kathleen are discussed; the condition of Rosemary is described; the political life of Jack Kennedy is recalled; Rose Kennedy can be seen at his side on the podium at the convention; many clips of parades, platforms, boat decks and speeches; Bobby Kennedy is another opportunity for political success, and Rose campaigns with him; clips of the two of them on the trail; then California and another loss to the family; Ted Kennedy is the final son offered into the political scene; Rose talks about her life with the grandchildren and visits with in-laws; she continues to be concerned with nice clothing and looking fashionable; she closes the interview with the comment that she and her children will not be vanquished by their troubles;
