Night Shift; 20th season premiere; theme song and graphics; Heather Cabot and Denise Stahlie introduce the season; the first feature film is "Send in the Clowns," directed by Chris Isleid, produced by Sumaya Khauli, with camera work by Jumaini Yuma, sound by Christine Dayrit, musical score by Thayer DeMay; Elmo, a young man, sits at a typewriter, and a voiceover tells about his life as a reporter; the phone rings and a colleague asks him to act as show host; he searches for the host's jacket and shoes; he confides to Sasha that he is wicked scared; a crowd of people want to be on the show; he introduces the acts for this Sunday morning show with one calamity after another; Mr. Stupendo blows up the studio during his act; then ABC calls and wants to air the show with Elmo as host at a $1,000 a week salary; Chris Isleid is interviewed in the studio about making the movie; "The Trip" opens with a young man working at a desk, darkly lit; he looks into the camera and the young man is in the desert walking on a hillside of caci and large boulders; a young woman, Mary, interrupts the young man's work; she says goodbye and wishes him well on his trip; he goes back to work and then packs his briefcase; he turns off the light and the viewer sees the office empty; the T subway pulls into the station; he gets on and begins to read a newspaper; as he looks out the window of the darkened car, the viewer sees the desert landscape; he arrives home and puts down his things; in his bedroom he packs a suitcase; he goes into the bathroom and runs a sink full of water; the viewer sees him running through a rocky landscape; he washes his face and then goes to the living room and pours some Johnny Walker Red into a glass and drinks it; he sits in an open windowsill; the viewer sees a darkened wide open landscape and then the empty window sill; Heather and Denise close the show; theme song and graphics;
