X4848 Laid Back 11/19/88 'Knights & Dragons' Medieval A Likely Story; Edit Master Show #3; Basic 5/9/88
Bars and tone. Slate. Black. Show begins at 01:28 Likely Opening. Credited in Opening: Brother Donald. Alison driving the bus talking about different characters that she could be. Computer generated graphics give her a princess hat, knights helmet, ect. Opening Alison in an arcade. Unveils “a new game” which is actually a book. Kids start to play and they are transported to a forest. As they read the book, Knights arrive in the forest and act out the story. Allison fights the nasty knight of tickledom with a feather. Cartoon: "The Three Robbers" by Tomi Ungerer Back to Allison being tickled. Kids closed the book to save her and they are back in the arcade. Commercial break (~2 min) Allison and kids in the book mobile. She asks question: “If you had the chance to help people what would you do?” Compilation of kid’s answers. Back to bookmobile. They discuss knights and princesses and the kinds of parties that they had. Enter the magic book so they can see what it was like in medieval times. They arrive in what looks like a Ren Faire. Jousting and other games. A man, Brother Donald, announces story time. Camera stays on his face while he tells a story about a little old woman who finds a silver coin. She uses the coin to buy a pig, but the pig won’t go over the bridge. The kids join in at the end. Story ends and it goes to commercial break (~2 min). More scenes from the ren faire. A couple performers, Merry Minstrels, sing a song for the children. Say goodbye and return to the book mobile through the magic book. Commercial break (~2 mins) Kids making crowns out of paper in the book mobile with Alison. Your Story: “Through the Closet” by Sam Talbot, illustrated by Jesse Achtenberg & Sam Talbot. Kids recommend books about knights while the credits roll.
