Jabberwocky: Friends; children describe what a friend is; theme music and visuals; the studio children demonstrate what the characteristics of friends are; Mr. Buchanan and Trina talk about Mr. B.'s friend machine; they try to sort out what it doesn't do, and what it does do; Carl visits with the Merriam-Webster pocket mime players and they talk about why they dress the way they do, and the history of mime; then they tell a story about Charles and how he learned to gain friends; a cartoon about a pair of children adopting a bird that does not get along with chickens or other areas of farm life demonstrates the need for similarity among friends; after the bird is released to the wild, the young girl finds a gleaming gem; Carl and Trina are talking, and exclude Frank; Frank interrupts them and they are rude to him about his exclusion from their conversation; Frank talks about why his feelings are hurt when they ignore him; images of children in various activities is voiced by a version of He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother, sung by Neil Diamond;
