Donor-supplied NotesAugust 1977 - Vermont continued: the Johnson family departure (note Mom's haircut) ; then the Greensboro cemetery, including John Gunther's grave and a view of the lake; then the cemetery at Craftsbury Common, where Gretchen rubs the stone of "Wilbur"; then a visit to the grounds in back of the museum at St. Johns-bury, where a few animals, birds, and reptiles are kept in cages for a live display; then the Morgan Horse farm in Danville. ***** Vermont concluded: sunset on Caspian Lake, with Ned and Maura wading; then the next day on the dock, where Ned enjoys his fav-orite pastime; then an on-lake view of Dr. Hunt's newly pur-chased cottage and a glimpse across the lake from there; then the kids and Gretchen outside in the late afternoon sun and on the lake canoeing; then home in New Jersey with the Bradley kids and Sue and Frank in their van about to depart for a day at the beach. ***** September 1977 - The first day of school for all the kids; then Ned returning from half day and soon the others getting off the bus (in street clothes); then Heather and "D.J." also after school; then Kathy Fitzgerald's wedding, after the ceremony in front of St. Mary Magdalen Church, including Uncle George, Aunt Margaret, and many relatives and friends. ***** The wedding continued, including the bride and groom; then the kids in their uniforms in the morning, first out back and then going to the bus; then Ned returning from his half-day. ***** Annual fishing trip with the Schulzes, first here and then at the Dol-fin Dock in Somers Point; then a bloody sand shark out back, with some kids looking on; then the kids in baseball caps under the new Vermont-made birdhouse; then a cook-out at Kevin and Carol's house, including "Mums." ***** Christmas in Statesville, with the kids before and during the gift unwrapping ("Baba" sick on the sofa) ; then outside with "Honsie" and afterward at the nearby school playground. ***** February 1978 - A snowy day out front, including Kevin and Jeff Kauser, a look at the heavy drifts, Renee Finger, Heather, Maura, Ned, Danny, and Maryilyn (newly widowed); then D.J. and Brian out back; then a kite-fly-ing day in March with Bart Tomlin and featuring a close-up look at the birdhouse on Daddy's shoulders. ***** April 1978 - Visit to the Schulzes, with everyone out front, featuring a beer-drin-king chant (with Peg) and a German dance (with Al).
