June 20 1973
Silent b-roll of two men walking toward a warehouse/factory. Cut between interviews with each man. Interview with first man about a plant that closed in 1971 (3 months before his retirement at 70). He had planned for a pension that he no longer has so him and his wife are on a fixed income with social security and their small savings. Interview with another man about how social security from both him and his wife combine doesn't come near reaching the poverty level so they will have work for their entire lives, but they can only take very low paying jobs since social security caps your outside income. can only earn so much money since he takes social security. So he needs a job, but has to watch how much he makes. He is trying to get legislation enacted to keep situations from this like happening.
