Intertitle: “White pine in need of thinning Wind causes crown friction” A shot of a man in the woods followed by a few shots of tree tops blowing in the wind. Intertitle: “Marking the stand for thinning Petersham Town Forest” Footage of workers marking and cutting down trees. A few shots of workers loading logs onto a cart that is then dragged away by a horse. Footage of workers cutting lumber and then loading the boards onto a cart. Intertitle: “The Lumber is piled in a nearby clearing” A few shots of workers piling lumber in stacks. Various intertitles about logging intercut with workers using a horse-drawn cart and tractors to haul logs and workers unloading the carts. Two intertitles about different kinds of strands in Harvard Forest intercut with footage of men inspecting trees.
