Children with small cart. A toy slide with rails that sends the cart down the sidewalk. Girl hangs upside down on swingset trapeze, also on rings. Boy with ice cream cone sits on wicker chair. Girl struggles with rings and persists, an extended sequence, concluded with her curtsey to camera. Girl pushes boy on swing. Boy and girl (cousins?) at front door. Robust boy (Joe Rinehart?) setting firecrackers on the sidewalk; more children with firecrackers, some with hands over ears. Playing in the garden sprinkler and playing with the hose. Roadside picnic by the car. Children in swimming pool located near body of war with urban buildings in distance and marina in foreground. Bridge with arched spans. Possibly Belle Isle Bridge, became MacArthur Bridge, Detroit The swimming pool may be at the Detroit Yacht Club, opened in 1923. Neighborhood, view of house and women coming down steps. Pan of yard with trees and views of brick house. Too much camera motion to see house clearly although view of street and sidewalks is evocative. Man on front steps waves arm dramatically. Woman in light-colored drop-waist dress and cloche hat. [Sally Lupfer indicates this is Ella Mason Lupfer's parents' home in Indian Village, a district of Detroit. The woman in hat may be Maria Mason.] At a lake, children, a dog on dock, two dogs on dock in background. Children in rowboat. Family group in summer clothes, women and children. Suburban backyard with children on bicycles and tricycles. View of neighborhood, piles of dirt on road, small trees indicate a new development. Children with sled on sidewalk and on small berm with almost no snow on it slide down to sidewalk. Indoors, very dark. A train set with large trains (perhaps O scale?). Adults play golf. They wear neckties and plus-fours. African American and Caucasian caddies carry bags. Foursome lined up on bench, some horseplay. CU African American caddy, players look for balls. Probably at the Springfield Country Club, founded 1898.
