Abstract1939 black-and-white home movies taken during two visits to the New York World's Fair, including many shots of the fairgrounds from the roof of the Westinghouse Building.

Viewing NotesThe reel opens with shots of the Communications Building, followed by many scenes of the Westinghouse Building and environs. A group of men in dark suits pose along the railing in the front of the Westinghouse Building. A crowd is shown gathered around the Time Capsule kiosk. Intercut with scenes of three men around a table are views from the roof of the Westinghouse Building, including the Marine Transportation Building, the Trylon and Perisphere, buildings of the Transportation Zone including the Goodrich, Ford, and Railroad buildings, and the top of the General Electric sculpture with a laddder in it. In the second scene of the men around the low table a waitress in a dark uniform with white apron removes dishes from the table. One man smokes a cigar; another eats and the third gesticulates. A group of men and women pose together on the Westinghouse roof, followed by shots of the Man-made Lightning Show at the General Electric Building. The film cuts here to a second visit, beginning with a group arriving at the Long Island Railroad and Pennsylvania Railroad entrance to the fair. This section of the film includes shots of the Casino of Nations, views up the Constitution Mall from the Theme Center towards the Federal Building, and the Wonder Bakery.
