This film documents a class of 4th graders from Saco as they visit and participate for a day in a different culture, in Aroostook County where grade school children work in the potato fields. Film opens with teacher explaining purpose of film, then moves to narrated scenes of rural Maine fields during harvest time (late August-late September). The techniques of hand harvesting are explained, including the baskets that are handmade by the Micmac. Film shows Saco children working alongside Aroostook children at each stage of harvest.
