'An initial look at Orff-Schulwerk in America; filmed at seventeen schools in seven states. A cinematic and candid study, documenting students at various stages of the learning experience in activities not specifically structured for the camera. Recommended for audiences of all ages with a general interest in music, movement, dance, theater, and the creative learning process.' The 17 participating schools are: Henry W. Orff-Schlwerk is a non-traditional approach to education; founded by Carl orff, it employs music as means to unlocking the creative forces in each individual. NHF viewing notes: Children and teachers play various instruments while flowers dissolve in and out. Poem quotations fade in and out. Minimalist style music throughout. Other scenes: children dancing (freestyle and choreographed), drawing. Film veers suddenly into classical music with scenes of traveling through United States. Then back to children.
