With sound, firemen board the fire engine in the first run of the day, 24 hours, and a voice over tell the backstory of how that day will unfold while the camera focuses on the sweep of a clock's hands; the wisdom of knowing where fire alarm boxes is noted; scenes of firemen jumping out of bed and into their protective gear in glimpsed on their way to battle the morning blaze in a garage; faulty wiring is the cause, and a report is created; 8 o'clock is shift time; prompt attention of a heart attack victim is the next emergency to be met by the fire department; the range of emergencies are noted; training and drilling are a constant with all firemen; the film ends abruptly;
