Music plays as a line of people walk up a lawn. They walk towards the Maine State House (Augusta, Maine). A man reads from the book and preaches from the steps in voice over. He pauses when he hears jazz music playing. He walks away, and the crowd follows him, saying “repent”. They brandish pitchforks at people dancing in a courtyard. The crowd dancing down a dirt road. Frolicking. Conflict between dancers and pitchfork wielders. Camera trick used to make a dancer disappear and re-appear behind a man with a pitchfork. Dancer gets “stabbed” with a pitchfork. More fighting. The preacher is hit over the head. A woman is strangled with a necklace. They dance around a fallen man with a top hat, and then dance away. ‘Rock of ages’ plays as they slow to a walk. They kneel in a circle as a man reads from the book. The ‘Holy Bible’ opens to the page: ‘The End’. [End of Reel]
