In 1994, Natasha Mayers and students from the Whitefield Schools painted Central Maine Power Company Utility poles as part of the The Century Project initiated by the Maine Humanities Council. The poles serve as visual landmarks, each telling a part of the story of Whitefield, Maine, celebrating the town's history, some of its legends, and individuals who are part of that history. Interviews with Lucy Lippard, author of 'Lure of Place;' Alan Taylor, Pulitzer Prize winning author for 'Kennebec Proprietors;' Kathy Bradford, artists and curator of 'Eccentric Art' exhibition at the Icon Gallery; Father Gaffey, former pastor of St. denis Church; Albert Boynton, town elder; students of the Whitefield School; and Natasha Mayers.
