Intertitle: “Glimpses of making Forestry Models at Guernsey and Pitman’s Studio, Harvard Square, Cambridge, Mass., 1933.” Footage of craftsmen making miniature models of Harvard Forest for the Harvard Forest Diorama intercut with intertitles explaining the process. Footage includes workers constructing the base, making branches, trunks and pine needles for the trees out of copper wire, painting the trees, making foliage out of hemp strands, installing trees in the base, making cedar trees out of dried grasses, modeling figures of people and animals out of hard wax, painting backgrounds on sheet zinc, installing trees and figures in the foreground and painting trees and shots of a few finished models.
