Meeting on the future of Lucerne-In-Maine village and the role of Dedham. Ellen Duncan reports.
Residents of Lucerne-In-Maine voted against a legislative act to dissolve the corporation recently in community business, among other voting issues; three overseers were elected who largely represent the summer population; the losing candidates are considering taking legal action on the way proxy and during-the-meeting votes were handled; snow plowing continues to be an unresolved issue; a taskforce was setup to study how to establish a forest that would enable the corporation to qualify for a tax exemption; but the requirement of an annual report by overseers was voted down, and the general assessment by those who were asked about the community meeting's outcome was that the things should stay just they way they are.
