Bud Leavitt follows Roy Hugie of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife as he conducts a research study on the black bear population in the Mount Katahdin area of the state. Goal of study is to track and analyze the bear population density. Study involves placing radio collars on bears. Hugie explains how bears are sedated, tracked, located, and studied.
