Interviews with producer Cecily Truett and producer/director Larry Lancit about creating an episode of the program. Program also examines the history of the Reading Rainbow series and its beginnings in Lincoln, Nebraska and Buffalo, New York. Includes a clip from the 1960s series called 'Ride the Reading Rocket,' produced by Great Plains National Instructional Television. Interview with Reading Rainbow host LeVar Burton about the series. Interview with Donald Bumpus of the Maine Division of Tourism and Craig Higgins of the Maine Film Commission coordinating their efforts to bring the crew to Maine. Interviews with Director Kenneth Stratton of Maine Forest Service, Tish Carr of the University of Maine woodsmen's team, Robert Conrad of the United States Forest Service about woods management and forest services. Mary Lou Colbath of the Maine Public Broadcasting Network talks about efforts to publicize the Reading Rainbow show to Maine.
