President John F. Kennedy visits the University of Maine campus in Orono. Shots of football stands full of people. Kennedy with Edmund Muskie and others, including Margaret Chase Smith. JFK arrives at Northeast Airlines via Air Force 1. After the national anthem, Gov. Reed officially welcomes the president (who is not visible), and introduces McIntire, Muskie, Smith. Kennedy exits Air Force 1, boards helicopter for flight to university. Footage from approx. 35 feet to 72 feet (58 seconds to 2 minutes) are actually of JFK's September 2, 1960 visit to Bangor (scenes with JFK in a polka dot tie).
