Compiled black-and-white and color home movies shot between 1933 and 1937 of several family gatherings in Nevada and at home in Great Neck, NY.
Reel opens on the American Potash & Chemical Corporation building in Henderson, NV. Street view of industrial plant, mountains in background, desert landscapes. Car driving through desert to an airfield with small planes. Cut to private residence. A woman comes out waving, joined by a young man in uniform. Two more young men arrive in a car marked "Legion Ascot Speedway." A family with many cats. People and pets pose on the patio, on grounds. Raising a toast. Cut to snowy forest, a lakeside cabin. Mrs. Houston arrives on snowshoes. Cut to lake in warmer weather, a campfire, three women and a puppy seated. Another sweeps. Oscar and Mrs. Houston are seen being playful. Woman and dog in small sailboat. Cookout on campfire, larger family group fathered. Cut to color, Mrs. Houston with grown children--Charles, two daughers--Oscar joins the scene. Cut to black-and-white. Extended family scenes in Great Neck, including the grandmothers of the Houston children, Mrs. McDonald and the elder Mrs. Houston. Standing in a line together, they perform a chain of kisses down the line from left to right.
