Henry Briggs' voice over instructs canoeing techniques on the chase carry; the rush of the current against a toppled and dented canoe is observed; moving on, the difficulties of the Allagash River are discovered and discussed; repair of a canvas canoe beach-side is demonstrated; the Devil's Elbow is noted; there are views of the riverbank and other canoes all along the river, as well as some wildlife including deer, moose, bull frogs, and birds; campsites are observed and visited; reflective oven baking is demonstrated; horse-powered lumbering is observed; the tools and practices of the lumbermen are described; the benefits of forestry's selective harvesting is described and observed with the variety of small animals that can be found in a well-maintained woodland; the trip ends at Long Lake and Allagash Falls; Briggs frequently laments the changes in the river and the allowable uses of the surrounding areas;
