Collection contains a documentary, "Tales of Wood and Water," which explores Maine's contemporary wooden boat building and use. The video employs an episodic format and includes scenes of boatyards and the WoodenBoat School (Brooklin), windjammers, Friendship sloops, schooners, lobster boats and yachts. Also included are portraits of men and women involved in building and sailing wooden boats, sailmaking and carving. In this video Clark used NHF stock footage of the launching of the schooner "Doris Hamlin" in Harrington. See also Edna Frye Collection.
David Clark is an independent producer/director who has produced works for the National Geographic Explorer series and the Discovery Channel. He produced "Tales of Wood and Water" for the Discovery Channel. It was cablecast in 1991 and then distributed on videocassette by the Discovery Channel and NHF.
