      Collection contains factual works: documentaries such as biographical films on Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and George Washington Carver and educational films on Maine fishing, ecology and other subjects. Collection also contains filmed interviews between University professionals and visitors (part of the "Distinguished Visitors" series), such as Music Department head Robert Godwin talking with opera tenor Jan Peerce (1968). Collection also contains sports-related works including footage of men's and women's gymnastics finals at the University (1967) a docudrama concerning the University of Maine football team at the Tangerine Bowl (1965). Collection also contains newsreels and several instructional works: "News Cavalcade" films from the 1960s and instructional films on fish net mending, papermaking and other topics.
      The University of Maine, Orono, is a campus of the University of Maine System. TVR produced the "Distinguished Visitors" series. Producers of other films in this collection include Bay State Films, Encyclopedia Britannica Films, Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Game, and various U.S. government departments (Agriculture, Education, Environmental Protection, Fish and Wildlife).
