Collection contains factual works with interviews. [Bucksport Regional Health Center] and [Rural Health Association--Farmington] concern the development of these two community resources. [Interview With Joseph Millett] is a filmed conversation with a central Maine farmer about his rural life and work, family and community issues. Other footage concerns a coal miner, an Iowa farm family, a poultry business, rural community events such as flea markets and stock car races, rural education and religion.
Louis A. Ploch (1922-2003) was a rural sociologist in the University of Maine's Department of Agricultural Resource Economics and author of studies of rural conditions and migration. His study of the Bucksport Regional Health Center was recorded in the early 1970s as part of a graduate student thesis project.
