      Collection contains filmed interviews of storyteller/singer Wilmot MacDonald. The first section of footage is an interview outtake of MacDonald with Dr. Edward (Sandy) Ives, archives director. The second section was shot earlier in the day in Ives' Narrative class. The third section is footage used in an evening news story broadcast on 18 April 1974. In [Wilmot MacDonald Sings Old Lumbering Songs], MacDonald reminisces about his personal experiences and woods life, his song writing and people he's known. He performs a song. Also shown are several photographs of men in a winter logging operation.
      Wilmot MacDonald (1903-1985) was a woodsman, storyteller, and singer who lived in Glenwood, New Brunswick, Canada. A camera crew from station WLBZ-TV, Bangor, shot this footage on 18 April 1974 at the Northeast Archives of Folklore and Oral History, Stevens Hall, University of Maine, Orono. Dr. Edward Ives founded the Northeast Archives of Folklore and Oral History in the late 1950s. Full audio tape recordings are on file in the Northeast Archives of Folklore and Oral History in the Maine Folklife Center.
