Pittsfield Public Library Collection
1940 – 1969
Collection contains home movies from the late 1940s and 1950s showing snowstorms, parades, flower gardens, coastal scenes, and a short sequence of Captain Donald MacMillan departing on the Argo for a northern expedition in 1949. The 16 mm. print in this Collection is "Quiet Frontier," a promotional film by Everett Foster about the Bangor, Maine, area produced for the Maine Department of Economic Development and sponsored by the Bangor Chamber of Commerce. The Collection also contains "New England Holiday" and "Yellowstone National Park," which are Castle Films. See also Everett Foster Collection.
These materials are from the collections of the Pittsfield Public Library. Captain Donald MacMillan, resident of Cape Cod with his wife Miriam, led numerous Arctic expeditions.
