Collection contains a documentary, "Maine Canoe Trip" and [H. A. Sanders, Jr.--home movies]. The Moosehead Lake area canoe trip includes intertitles detailing the route through streams and smaller lakes. Footage includes fishing, camping, camp cooking and poling through narrow streams. The Native American guide for the trip is shown at the beginning and end in traditional dress. The Sanders home movie footage is of Jim Sanders, who flew for the air force in WWII, and Canadian airplanes at the Greenville, Maine, airport.
The 1948 canoe trip in the Moosehead Lake area was guided by Henry Perley, Chief Red Eagle, and was shot as amateur promotional footage for the Moosehead Lake region. Henry Perley was a guide, actor, and author. H.A. Sanders, Jr. was Jim Sanders’ father.
