      Collection contains footage from Kimball Union Academy in Meriden, New Hampshire, camp footage from Birch Rock Camp in Waterford, Maine, and two commercial shorts. Scenes include boys camp activities: swimming, boating, riding horses, fishing, hiking, sailing toy boats, eating, and saluting the American flag. Naturalist George Howe of Norway, Maine, appears in one scene instructing the boys. Academy footage shows a graduation ceremony (1936) and other school events. Collection includes two commercial shorts, "Here Comes the Circus" (1944) and a Woody Woodpecker cartoon (1946), purchased and used by the camp. See also David Sanderson Collection.
      Birch Rock Camp opened in 1926 during an era of high summer camp attendance in the Oxford County region of Maine. William and Leona Brewster founded the camp for boys on Lake McWain. William Brewster also served as the headmaster at Kimball Union Academy for many years. David Sanderson’s family has lived in Waterford, Maine, for over 200 years. The camp is located beside his great-great-grandfather’s farm, established in the 1850s.
