Collection contains "Rapid River Races" documenting the National White Water Championships held on the Rapid River at Middledam, Maine, on July 6 and 7, 1940. Scenes include racers launching kayaks and canoes on the banks of the river and navigating the rapids.
An Appalachian Mountain Club publication from the early 1940s describes the site of these races at the "South Branch where you take the boat across Lower Richardson Lake for Middledam."
