Lyon, Ladd: "A Lesson in Levity" Collection

The collection consists of 27 reels of 16mm film, totaling approximately 12,700 feet. It also includes one reel of 1/4inch audio tape, 1 camera with its case, 3 "Ladd Lyon" playbills, assorted photographs, photo negatives, and glass slides. The films include home movies, film of performances by Ladd Lyon and his wife Hilda Meyer, as well as commercial prints.
This collection contains the films of George and Hilda Meyer. The couple were vaudeville performers from the 1940s to the 1960s. George performed under the stage name ‘Ladd Lyon’. They performed on stage, USO tours, radio, television and film. The films in the collection are a mix of camera original home movies, prints of various performances, and some commercial prints. The collection also includes photographs, photo negatives, and glass slides. These includes family photos, photos taken during performances, and candid photos of various performers, including the Meyers, and actor Peter Lorre.
The collection was donated by Ladd Meyer Sr., son of George and Hilda.
