The collection consists of 18 reels of silent, black and white, and color, 16mm film. The films were shot by Esther Howe Wheeler Anderson, and document life on the Frank Wheeler Farm in Concord, Massachusetts, along with scenes of Concord itself; Concord Academy; Plymouth; Winthrop; a 1930s hurricane; and Walden Pond.
Esther Howe Wheeler Anderson (1891-1985) lived in Concord, Massachusetts, where she took over the family farm after the 1919 death of her father, Frank Wheeler. The Frank Wheeler Farm was on Nine Acre Corner in Concord. She married Leslie Anderson and they had three children, Pauline, William, and David. In addition to her home movies, Esther also shot over 2,600 slides, which are held in the Special Collections of the Concord Free Public Library. The Library also holds the Esther Howe Wheeler Anderson Collection of Herb Publications and the Wheeler and Related Family Papers.
