The collection contains 153 reels of silent, color 8mm film, totaling approximately 34,670 ft.; 1 reel of silent, color 16mm film, totaling approximately 250 ft. William B. Coolidge was a US Foreign Service Diplomat in Asia. Highlights from the footage include Vietnam, Japan, Cambodia and Thailand in the 1950-1960s.
William B. Coolidge (1916-2010) worked as a US Foreign Service diplomat in the Asia. The collection includes scenes in Japan in the 50s, as well as vacations in Vietnam, etc. Also included is footage of Nantucket. His father, Richard Bradford Coolidge (1879-1957), was the mayor Medford, MA. The family is descended from William Bradford.
The papers of William Bradford Coolidge and other members of the Dame-Coolidge family are housed at the Massachusetts Historical Society and Tufts University Archives.
