The Albert Sokolowski Family Collection contains 20 reels of amateur 8mm and super 8mm and one VHS tape shot primarily by Albert Sokolowski between 1945 and 1987. Mr. Sokolowski lived in Middlefield Connecticut with his wife, Chesterlyn Teresa Sadlowski (nickname Chet), and their four children. Mr. and Mrs. Sokolowski bought the home on Lake Beseck in 1950 and lived there until their deaths.
The films record Mr. Sokolowski's life from returning from WWII in 1945, marriage, the birth of his children, and follow his children as they grow up and get married. They include family scenes, birthday parties, weddings, parades, vacations, and Mr Sokolowski's time as a soldier in Japan at the end of WWII
Albert Stanley Sokolowski was born March 29, 1921. He enlisted in the US military on October 15, 1942 and returned in 1945 after serving in Japan. He married Czeslawa Teresa Sadolowski (Chesterlyn or Chet) on July 1, 1950 in central Connecticut. They were both children of Polish immigrants. They bought a small cottage in Middlefield, CT and Albert winterized and built on to it over the years. They had four children: Karen, Linda, Mary, and Diane. Albert died in Connecticut on December 14, 1978 and Chet died on August 18, 2013.
